Juniors Program for Members
2020 Junior Program at Country Meadows during the Covid-19 Requirements & Regulations
As has been our feeling since we opened this spring, Golf is one of the safest activities for anyone during the pandemic regulations, this doesn’t need to be any different for Juniors. We have an operational plan in place at Country Meadows to guide our staff to safely operate almost all aspects of our operations with the safety of themselves and our customers at utmost importance. So we are now putting together another fun filled season for our Junior golfers too.
Our Junior Membership will include a weekly group clinic on Thursdays:
Juniors and instructors will adhere to current physical distancing protocols and wear masks when closer than 2m from players, hand sanitizer will be kept close at all times
Time slots will be set at 8:30, 10:30, 1:00, age and experience will influence where you fit, must sign up before arriving as each space is limited, call 858-8909 to book. Time slots will be added if necessary.
Each Time slot will have 2 groups of 10 players maximum
Players must stay with the same 10 for the season, Covid-19 recommendations
Juniors should not arrive more than 15 minutes before clinic time unless they are going on the course before their clinic, or having lunch, there will be no practicing before specified clinic, and in most cases not after clinics either.
Golfers are not permitted to share or handle another golfer’s equipment unless they are in the same bubble
Range balls and baskets are sanitized between uses and juniors will not be picking up golf balls that do not belong to them
Junior Golf Mondays:
Under the current rules of golf courses, shotgun starts are not permitted and pre-booked tee times are mandated, so this varies our usual Monday Morning program on the par 3 course
Juniors will need to pre-book each week for Monday mornings, up to 4 per group only. There is a daily tee sheet in the pro shop now, normally pre-booking is only taken 2 days in advance but Mondays from 10am to noon, in 10 minute intervals, will be open for booking for juniors on the previous Monday, please keep in mind to cancel if plans change and you will not be attending.
Juniors should not arrive more than 15 minutes before tee time unless they are going to the driving range, putting green or having lunch.
We will do some supervising and coaching as always but we welcome parents/grandparents walking or playing with the younger less experience juniors, especially if parents are concerned about the new protocols in place this season. We prefer to leave the coaching to the pros and their helpers but guidance around the course under the current guidelines might be helpful, it might even be fun! Please let us know if you plan to walk along when your junior’s book, we do not need 4 adults with every group. Tee time window could be expanded if needed.
New Monday 18-hole program for Juniors with handicaps:
Sign up and groups will be put together for mid-late morning on Monday, some days will be stroke play (individual) and some days may be match play.
We will attempt to have mentors with some groups each week
As with all other tee times sign up/ pre booking is mandatory and will be open before the regular 2 day booking window, if you sign up and cannot attend you must call to cancel. Please contact pro shop to sign up.
General Golf Course Guidelines:
Our clubhouse facilities are open, with physical distancing measures in place with tables and chairs, plexiglass shield at the counter, inside workers wear masks when within 2m of customers and not behind the counter. Area is open for people ordering or using the services provided only. Kitchen hours are 11am-8pm weekdays and we add breakfast on weekends and holidays from 7-11am
Washrooms upstairs are open, one person in each at a time unless people are bubbled. No passing others on the stairs.
Pro shop is open for tee-time check in and merchandise purchases, due to the space we ask that people physical distance and wait for staff behind the shield to help them in order of arrival.
All tee times including the Par 3 course now must be pre-booked under Covid-19 regulations to help us maintain crowds gathering in lineups for golf and for tracking purposes. If you are golfing and not using the driving range or restaurant before you should arrive about 20 minutes prior to your tee time
One thing we have noticed is that it’s easy to fall back into old habits once you are back at the course for a few weeks so we might need the help of the parents and guardians of our juniors to help educate them on physical distancing, washing and sanitizing hands often, and not touching surfaces you do not need to touch. We look forward to getting reacquainted with returning juniors and meeting new ones soon for another fun & learning experience at Country Meadows.

Along with golf swing, there is much more to learn to make your golf experience better for you and everyone else who is golfing when you are golfing. If new to the game, here are some basic tips:
Good Pace of play makes every round more enjoyable, this simply means keeping up with the group you are following on the golf course.
Being ready to play when it’s your turn, or using ready golf ideas keeping things less formal, but always safe too.
Leaving the course as you found it makes every golfer’s round more enjoyable too. Learn to replace divots, repair ball marks on greens and rake bunkers.
Don’t drive carts or push carts across tee areas or putting greens.
Be on time and ready to start at your tee time.
Play in foursomes when possible, but not more than four players per group.
Don’t hunt more than 3-5 minutes for a potential lost golf ball.
3 great tips that will help you play
When your group is on the tee, make sure you’re wearing your glove and have your golf ball, tee and club in your hands so you’re ready to set up and hit the minute it’s your turn.
In the fairway, we all know it’s okay to play out of turn if you’re ready to go (as long as it’s safe), but it’s good to be proactive so that you’re ALWAYS ready.
On the putting green, good etiquette equals having the first person to hole a putt be the one to put the flagstick back in the hole. When player four hits the putt, you can all quickly exit the green.
These three things may not seem like a lot, but combined they will save your group 30 to 60 seconds per hole – and that means you will finish your round nine to 18 minutes faster. And that makes everybody happy!
