Meadows Ladies 2009
Update of activities
planned for the ladies division for 2009. Some new and returning ideas were
brought up at our ladies spring meeting which you may or may not be familiar
with.
Participation
fee: for many years our
ladies division has collected a $10 voluntary fee which covers cost of prizes
for various planned activities aside from Acadia Toyota Match play or our Ladies
Invitational, as well as contributes to our closing dinner in the fall each
year. Some of the prizes and activities are as
follows:
Ringer
Scores:
Score sheets are
posted in the upstairs hall in the clubhouse. Place your name and fill in your
first 18 hole score of the season. (most scorecards from the opening tournament
still remain on the computer desk near the inside pro shop door) Place your name
also in the next line on the sheet for your ringer scores. Each time you have an
individual hole score which beats the hole score on your first round you fill it
in in pencil on the second line. Continue this for the summer and prizes will be
given at our banquet for percentage improvement through the season. This is a
fun way to track your progress through the year.
Pin
Rounds:
“A Net
Competition
This is a
nationally sponsored Stroke Play competition, less full handicap, to be played
on the Member Club Course, under the same conditions on specific
days.”
A new format of dates
have been arranged for our 2009 pin rounds. We have arranged 8 Thursday
rounds plus club championship Aug 2-3, the final Thursday is Aug 6. Scheduled
rounds will be morning (8:30 -9:30) or after 5pm. If you plan to play in the
morning you must sign up by Monday of the same week, in order for the tee times
to be arranged. If you plan to play after 5pm please sign up so we can plan a
draw with groups of similar handicaps and those planning to come have a game,
and be sure to call to cancel if you are unable to attend so arrangements can be
made for the players paired with you.
“A player does not
have to play all designated Pin Rounds, as only the aggregate of the player’s
four lowest net Pin Rounds count. Pin Rounds must be played under the Rules of
Stroke Play competition - the competitors must hole out, (see Rule 3.2) and the
score must be attested by a fellow competitor. “
The score sheets are
posted on the bulletin board and an envelope is there to deposit your score
cards. Prizes will be awarded at our closing banquet. Because only the best four
rounds actually count you can still join the pin rounds even if you have missed
the first couple of weeks.
Spring
Handicap:
It was decided this
spring that we would change this match play sign up to all players interested
instead of qualifying during our opening tournament. A sign up sheet was posted
on the bulletin board but few names have been entered, after some discussion we
would like to encourage anyone interested in an individual handicap match play
event for a 9 or 18 hole division to sign up by Tuesday July 7th.
Please inquire if you would like more details.
Brag
Sheet:
Posted on the bulletin
board to let the committee know when you have memorable moments in your games.
Please remember to note if you break 100, 90 or 80 etc for the first time and
first time birdies and eagles as well so pins can be awarded accurately. The
birdie tree is still posted on the ladies room door, put on a birdie on the
applicable hole so we can calculate and award most birdie prizes also.
Golden
Girls: Great turnout for
you 50+ Ladies the draw is complete and Ardith has copies for everyone. A
banquet and prize night will be announced later in the
year.
Monday
Morning ladies are still
playing with one change….draw will be done each week and posted at the proshop
on the weekend before play. As numbers are growing for this group you can check
ahead after you sign up to see exactly when you will be playing, we still
encourage you to come out for coffee with the girls before. Putting competition
for front nine only and back nine play is optional. Kathy Elderkin is
organizing this group again this year.
Senior Ladies
Tour is Monday’s also,
check the dates and sign up sheet on the bulletin board at the back of the
clubhouse. Our club coordinator is Ardith Barron.
Handicaps:
Posting all your
scores for handicap purposes is very important for every player at every level
of play if you are participating in organized play with the ladies division.
This is what allows us to play matches and other friendly competitions on an
even playing field with players of different abilities. If you are not in the
computer please contact the pro shop staff and they will get you set up, you can
also post scores anywhere where there is an internet connection once you are set
up. 9 and 18 hole scores can be posted to get an established handicap. We also
track the greatest reduction in handicap by percentage for an award in the fall.
Club
Championship:
All members with
handicaps are encouraged to participate, we award 1st and
2nd division as well as a senior plaque and many prizes
also.
Ladies Field
Day:
Scheduled for
Wednesday August 19th, this is an individual Stroke play tournament
which is part of the NB Player of the Year competition. With several divisions
all ladies are encouraged to participate with ladies from many other area clubs.
If you are not planning to play and would like to get involved we will need a
few members to be on hand to help with set up on that day, please let Kathy
Elderkin know if you are interested in helping. We also collect door prizes for
this day if you have a contact for us or a prize you might
donate.
“Golf Fore the
Cure” fundraising and activities will be announced soon also, watch for
details.
